Kate’s story

Kate’s career started out in the fast-paced and high-pressure world of corporate law. A seemingly well-respected career that looked good on paper, but one which Kate soon discovered did not align with who she truly was and what she really wanted. This led Kate on a path of exploration and ultimately a career redirection.

As someone with a strong passion for and love of sport, health and fitness, Kate decided to combine her passion with her expertise as a lawyer and embark on a journey to become a sports lawyer.  This dream soon became a reality when Kate moved from Perth to Melbourne and landed her dream job at the time in one of the top sports law practices in Australia.

After many years advising sports clients in private practice, Kate felt that a change was required to restore balance and turn toward her ideal life.

Kate ideally wanted to be closer to family, live by the beach and work in-house in a sporting organisation that inspired her. In pursuit of a life well lived, Kate carved out a new path and ultimately moved back to the beautiful coastline of Western Australia, bought a home walking distance to Cottesloe Beach (pictured) and made the leap in-house taking up her current role as the Head of Legal & Risk at the Fremantle Dockers.

While Kate finds great fulfillment in the fast paced, dynamic and exciting nature of an AFL club, like many of us, she also needs time to recharge. Kate finds this balance through a consistent yoga and meditation practice and is also an accredited Hatha Yoga Instructor. Kate currently teaches a weekly yin yoga class which brings deep fulfilment and a sense of community and connection in her life.

Kate otherwise finds joy in spending quality time with loved ones, running, being in nature, ocean swimming and enjoying good music, food and wine.
